Rebecca Reynolds Featured Artist at the Edgewater Gallery

Visit the gallery in June to experience the colorful and immersive works of Featured Artist Rebecca Reynolds, who draws her inspiration from the nature found all around us on the beautiful Mendocino Coast.

Rebecca says, “Every tide pool, each beach and forest fair, leads me on an adventure to a new painting…

I wander through nature armed only with a camera and an overactive imagination…

I wonder as I draw pictures in sand and build little driftwood huts draped with seaweed and adorned with shells…

I wonder at the stars and the moonbeams shining on the dark diamond patterned texture of the mercurial sea…

I am waiting for the next miracle, great or small. That decisive moment I want to capture and collect in a butterfly jar like I did when I was a child.

Specimens to excite and ignite the brain to fire a new vision and set it free on canvas…

The photos and the memories of a time and place are born and manifested in layers and they morph into concepts that complete the cycle of experience rendered in a mixed media of paint, paper and sand. Sometimes roughly resembling the rocky substrate of a tide pool or smooth and shiny like a glassy ocean. I trust the creative process and let go.”

Also on display in June, embellished fabric cyanotypes from Edgewater Welcomes artist Priscilla Adams, who comments, “This has been a creative adventure and quite addicting. I print on natural fibers like cotton or linen, mix my own colors, and embellish with fabric pens and paint. I have been interested in art all my life. I have many classes and workshops and I have experimented with art materials. This medium has been fascinating. I work on fabric and at present I am working on two art quilts.”
