Through a series of programs with local environmental and climate activists and call-ins on the KZYX Ecology Hour program, they will look at the issues of plastic waste and climate change, and explore ideas for how each of us can be agents of transformation by doing small things that make a difference.
All of the art in the “Reclaimed” show is created from cast-off and reclaimed materials, particularly plastic. The intention is that these provocative works will get local citizens thinking and spark conversations linking art to environmental and climate action… so people will be inspired to take action on practical solutions.
First will be a series of three Ecology Hour shows on KZYX:
- April 20– Steve Zuieback and Margo Frank will share community and individual actions people can take. They will take calls in the last 20 minutes of the show.
- April 27th– John Azzaro will speak with Mary Crowley of the Ocean Voyages Institute about the Gyre in the Pacific Ocean.
- May 18th– the four artists participating in the June show (Laura Fogg, Betty Lacy, Margo Frank and Rosie Saxe Morris) will host a community discussion about using art as a catalyst for environmental action.
The art show will open on June 4th at the Corner Gallery in Ukiah, and continue through the entire month of June. The gallery is located at 201 S State St and is open 11-5 on Tuesday through Saturday.
