The Hattie and Joe Craven show is a duo project celebrating the value of music making and artful living, within, and shared by, families. The presentation features a show curated by a father and his daughter, awakening each other to new possibilities as they each bring their influences to a multi-generational table. The result is a program of music that spans 300 years, with a bouquet of vernacular styles of song with occasional instrumentals.
Hattie Craven is a stunning vocalist and her father is a seasoned veteran of instrumental based music. Joe Craven accompanies Hattie on mandolin, octave mandolin, percussion and fiddle, with Hattie occasionally bringing ukulele to the mix.
The unique arranging—and at times re-making—of popular and lesser known compositions is a hallmark of their sound. They have presented their daughter-and-dad duo act in venues ranging from school and library programs, house concerts, clubs and theaters to nationally known music festivals. Hattie exhibits a sparkling presence to young-hearted people of all ages, on and off the stage, and combined with her father’s instrumental prowess and good humor, this is an inspiring and delightful experience.

For 2021, the Festival is temporarily transplanted to a new indoor venue, the beautiful 1938 Cotton Auditorium in nearby Fort Bragg. Tickets are available now… online pick-your-own-seat ticketing in this new venue to comply with our county’s public health guidelines.
