The Dolphin Gallery is proud to announce the opening of its latest exhibition, “Hooked on Mendonoma Fish”, featuring the stunning fish prints of Christopher Dewees.
The exhibition will run from February 3 to February 25, with an opening reception on Saturday, February 3 from 1-3 p.m.

The Dolphin Gallery is proud to announce the opening of its latest exhibition, “Hooked on Mendonoma Fish”, featuring the stunning fish prints of Christopher Dewees.
The exhibition will run from February 3 to February 25, with an opening reception on Saturday, February 3 from 1-3 p.m.
Dewees is a renowned artist and practiced in the ancient Japanese art of gyotaku, or fish printing, which involves applying ink or paint to a fish and pressing it onto paper or fabric to create a lifelike impression. Dewees has been practicing gyotaku since 1968, when he was a graduate student in fisheries biology at Humboldt State University. He has traveled the world to study and print various fish species, and has also worked as a marine fisheries specialist at U.C. Davis for 35 years. His prints capture the beauty, diversity and movement of fish and shellfish, using both direct and indirect printing techniques. He is also a founding member of the Nature Printing Society, an international organization that promotes the art and science of nature printing. “Hooked on Mendonoma Fish” showcases Dewees’ passion for the marine life of the Mendocino coast, and invites viewers to appreciate the natural wonders of the sea through his exquisite prints.
