An Evening With Jim Kweskin & Meredith Axelrod

Jim Kweskin was a founding member of the Kweskin Jug Band, along with Maria Muldaur and Geoff Muldaur. Two other bands heavily influenced by the Kweskin Jug Band were Mother McCree’s Uptown Jug Champions, and The Mugwumps. The former went on to become the Grateful Dead, and the latter became the Lovin’ Spoonful and The Mamas and the Papas. The rock critic Ed Ward once listed the most important bands of the early 1960s as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Byrds, and the Jim Kweskin Jug Band.
