Northcoast Artists Gallery is pleased to present their September show from member artist Sue Ellen Parkinson. Iconographer, Sue Ellen Parkinson, celebrates women in their wholeness. In her September Show, titled “Origin Stories,” she is re-visioning the dominant narratives which tell us that women are the weaker sex. Parkinson says, “From Eve, to the present moment, the contributions of women have been either erased from history or misrepresented. Both men and women are burdened by this. It’s time to change the negative imagery. The world desperately needs the wisdom and guidance of the Feminine to be valued.”
Parkinson has been an artist for her entire life, but seven years ago she began painting the Sacred Feminine. To her surprise, connecting with these icons on her own terms, has changed her deeply. “It has been a healing experience for me to honor these iconic women, and re-store their identity to the wise and sovereign beings that I believe they are. Through this process, I have become more empowered myself.”
The show will open at Northcoast Artists Gallery, in Fort Bragg, on Sept 1, and continue through Sept. 28, 2021.
Please join Sue Ellen and the other member artists at the First Friday reception on September 3rd, 5-8 pm. There will be a short artist talk at 6:30 PM.
Northcoast Artists Gallery is open Wed. Thur. Fri. Sat. Sun. and Mondays, closed on Tuesday. Gallery hours: 11 AM to 4 PM.
