The annual sculpture gallery draws upon the wealth of regional artistic talent, primarily featuring the work of California artists.  As we enter the third year of this program, we are happy to announce that the sculpture gallery now includes the work of artists from out of state, as well as work that was created specifically for the Botanical Gardens.  This round of sculpture includes two new site-specific works: Chris Beards’ Let Go and Gerard Kirk Harris’s Arch-i-texture.  Visitors will find a range of materials and textures on display, from Kitty Gordon’s Spinning Forest Flower made from recycled materials to Peter Stecher’s steel and stone Lotus; and from Michele Collier’s Blind Eros and Celestial in clay to Angela Ridgway’s Reflections and Reflections of in steel.  This exhibit features new work from return artists Franz Arner, Diane Cochran, Gerard Kirk Harris, Katie Gibbs, Kitty Gordon and David Mudgett; with William H. Lewis, Bob O’Neill, and Richard Yaski participating for a second round.

Visitors are able to view and enjoy the sculpture in an intimate, natural setting, connected by meandering paths and quiet walkways.

New work is accepted into the Sculpture Gallery on an annual basis. The next Call to Artists will take place in January 2012. The artwork in this round will be on display through April 2012.  For more information on the Sculpture Gallery application process please download the application here or contact the Arts Council office at (707) 463-2727.
