Willits Center For The Arts, October Gallery Exhibit:
A collection of 7 artists whose work includes Art Quilts, Mosaic and Assemblage
Show will run until Sunday, October 29th.
Gallery is open Wed – Sun, 11 am – 6 pm.
A group of seven inspired women who are passionate about art, brought together to create a show for the Willits Center For The Arts.
Artists: Esther Siegel, Nancy Simpson, Laura Fogg, Nan Trichler, Mickey Fernandez, Elizabeth Raybee and Julie Beardsley.
Informally meeting over bountiful brunches and dinners, they have had the opportunity to be personally guided through the home and studio of each artist. They have traveled from the hills of Potter Valley to the farthest reaches of Brooktrails, and from downtown Willits, to the mountains overlooking Ukiah. They have explored studios in barns, basements and backyard sheds, and admired boxes and shelves of supplies for mosaics, assemblage sculptures, and quilts. Inside each artist’s home they were in awe of the finished works of art displayed on walls, tabletops and beds. This lengthy and enjoyable process finally did lead them to answer the question of what they had in common that would unify a show. They all use pieces! Big and small pieces, hard and soft pieces, old and new pieces…they all combine smaller elements to create wonderful finished products.
Finally, a mutual admiration of each other’s work led to the title of the show: “Seven Kinds of Wonderful.”
