Comic Steve Martin’s hilarious rumination on genius, art and science, “Picasso at the Lapin Agile”, will run for ten shows at the Willits Community Theatre from September 8 to 24.
Directed by Jim Mastin, the play brings forth revolutionary artist Pablo Picasso into the famed Parisian cabaret at the turn of the centuries where he meets world-renowned physicist Albert Einstein. A colorful cast of local characters joins in the fun as they toss about ideas that could well turn the world inside out and upside down. The result is a serious contemplation of the nature and origin of genius, as well as a rollicking spoof of that contemplation.
Starring in the show are local favorites Kevin Moore, Lee Stipe, Gloriann Lucero, David Partch, Tara Logan, Kathy de Bane, Ron Greystar, Tami Potter, Jeremy Hershman, and Matthew Feigel.
“Picasso at the Lapin Agile” runs Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 24, with performances on Thursdays at 7pm for $15, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm for $20, and Sunday matinees at 2pm for $15. Advance tickets are available in person at Mazahar, 38 S. Main St., Willits; online at brownpapertickets.com; or by phone 24/7 at 1-800-838-3006.
