“Speakeasy IV – An Evening of Original Monologues” will be presented in two shows at Willits Community Theatre on Saturday, July 22 at 8pm and Sunday, July 23 at 2pm.
The monologues are all original and performed on stage by local people who wrote them. Participants include Emma Jean Good, Don Samson, Steve Hellman, Jed Diamond, Maria Gilardin, William Walls, Divora Stern, Pete Winslow, Steve Marston and Peter Smith. Coordinator Don Samson says the monologue show, now in its fourth year, is special for the bold energy generated between the performers and the audience. He says, “It’s amateurs who give it a special spin, people who don’t perform normally in front of people, so it’s a dangerous thing, and courageous. The audience encourages the performances. Overall, there’s a real boldness to it.”
Due to the overwhelming popular ticket demand at shows the past three years, advance tickets are recommended. Tickets are $10 and available in person at Mazahar, 38 S. Main St., Willits; online at brownpapertickets.com; or by phone 24/7 at 1-800-838-3006. Tickets will also available at the door until sold out.
