Laura Corben shows new paintings, from recent walks along the Mendocino Coast Headlands, revealing her perceptions and interests as she explored our Ocean and forest setting.
Who among us has not wandered along the bluffs, looking out to the far horizon, then sat for a moment, captivated by the patterns and endless rhythm of the waves as the sea meets the land? We can’t help but imagine what it would be like to fly on the wings of a bird to cross over the the odd little islands that seem to have only recently parted with the mainland.
Laura Corben, featured artist for the month of April, has turned her attention to the Headlands along our coasts. She has captured some of the stormy green seas of winter as well as the range of blues on the brighter days. Grassy fields, the white calla lilies, windblown trees, contrast with steep cliffs and rocky shores in her latest paintings that will be up at the Artists’ Co-op of Mendocino for the month of April.
