Collage is a medium that is accessible to everyone. No experience necessary.

We play music and talk while we work on our creations. All supplies provided.

Collage artists cut and tear elements from disparate pieces to create a new form, tell a new story, or communicate a new message. These workshops provide healing, discussion, skill-building, support, and connection through creative expression.

With support from Upstate California Creative Corps, the Deep Valley Arts Collective has created a project called “Pieced Together: Art for Recovery” that provides people recovering from substance abuse with guided art collage workshops. Working directly with established substance abuse programs and organizations, we connect community members with an extended opportunity to create art, form community bonds, and build resilience. The collage workshops will culminate in an art exhibition in a gallery setting, documentation in the form of a book, and a multimedia art presentation.

These monthly workshops are a way to engage everyone in our community – we have all been affected by substance abuse, be it ourselves or someone we know or love. Art can help all people in recovery and those affected by substance abuse by using artistic tools to envision a different future and directly explore the ramifications of substance abuse
