On Sunday, February 18th, at 2:30 p.m., the WMC meeting will be held in the Activities Room of the Community Center of Mendocino, 998 School Street in Mendocino. The speaker will be Emily Lloyd-Jones. Free and open to the general public.
Plotting Young Adult and Middle Grade Books, Emily Lloyd-Jones will cover the basics of how to use emotional beats to plot a young adult or middle grade book. From the opening chapter to the climatic ending, a character’s emotional journey is one of the most important aspects of writing. By outlining this beforehand, an author can more effectively create a gripping and compelling story.
Emily Lloyd-Jones is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller The Drowned Woods, the Indie bestseller The Bone Houses, and several other young adult books. Her middle grade novels include Unseen Magic and Unspoken Magic. She is the winner of the 2023 Tir na n-Og English language award.
