…a program of six choreographers performing four intimate and visceral works on Friday January 13 at 7:30pm and a Saturday January 14 matinee at 2pm.

From the West Coast to East Coast, curator Eryn Schon-Brunner has assembled an amazing lineup of professional dancers, including: Kara Starkweather and Natalie Thiel of Mendocino Dance Project, Rebecca R. Levy of Jacksonville Dance Theatre in Florida, Jennifer Logan of Nancy Evans Dance Theatre in Los Angeles, and Eryn Schon-Brunner and Paloma Rodriguez of Eryn Schon-Brunner and Dancers in Willits.

Schon-Brunner says the show will provide a particularly unique experience for audience members at the WCT playhouse for the intimacy of their close proximity to the dancers. She says, “With the limited in-close seating, they’ll feel themselves a part of the process, experiencing a visceral sensation of the movements.”

The four pieces, each with musical accompaniment, will encompass a range of forms, from a story-driven narrative, a personal search for answers, a commentary on scarcities and abundance in our modern world, and a shared collective view of the recent pandemic.

Rebecca R. Levy will perform the solo piece “Protecting Sparsity”, which plays with the idea of guarding a feeling of sparsity within, while reminding there’s also an endless abundance.

Jennifer Logan performs the solo piece “Clearing”, originally choreographed for dance in 1979 by Viola Farber. The work had not been performed for almost 40 years, until a recent restaging by Jeff Slayton for the Nancy Evans Dance Theatre, of which Logan is a part.

Kara Starkweather and Natalie Thiel will perform, “PHASES”, a dynamic exploration of themes related to life during the recent pandemic. Their choreography expresses the joy, frustration, humor, and isolation that have become the hallmarks of the shared collective experience and a new way of living.

Eryn Schon-Brunner joins native Puerto Rican dancer Paloma Rodriguez in performing their piece, “Dirt”, a work in progress about the power of dirt, land and relationship to place.

Tickets are $20 and available online through www.wctperformingartscenter.org. Seating is limited and early tickets are recommended. The show presents a rare local opportunity to experience professional dance, with a lineup of talent from all corners of the country bringing expressive movement into an intimate setting.
