Textile Treasures from Central and South America

Pacific Textile Arts Gallery will present a colorful show and sale of ethnic textiles from Central and South America, collected in the 1970’s by fiber artist, Mickie McCormic as she journeyed (in a VW bus, of course!) from California to Peru. Her extensive collection includes handstitched molas, handwoven belts and shawls, and more.

Opening on First Friday, Nov. 4, 5-8:00 PM, the exhibit will run through Nov. 26.  Weekly hours: Tues. & Thurs. 1-4:00 PM, Wed. 10:30-12, and Sat. 11-1:00.  Pacific Textile Arts is located at 450 E. Alger St., Ft. Bragg.  pacifictextilearts.org.

Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11:00 AM, in the Pacific Textile Arts’ classroom, Mickie will give a presentation about a fascinating design mystery – unraveling imagery in complex Tiahuanaco tapestries – that she studied while earning her Master’s degree in Pre-Columbia Fabrics at Goddard College. 450 Alger St., Ft.
