Textile art as a means of telling the story of Native American People of Mendocino and Lake Countries created at a series of art quilting workshops.
Exhibit curated by Corine Pearce uses textile art as a means of telling the story of Native American People of Mendocino and Lake Countries created at a series of art quilting workshops. Participants include Pomo and Indigenous community members from Mendocino, Lake County and other northern California Tribes.
Representations of the ongoing and unexplained disappearance and presumed death of a high number of Native people as well as the ongoing and unresolved issues of tribal sovereignty over land, language, food and culture are represented through paintings, photography and sculpture as well.
Story Quilt Squares Workshop
Corine Pearce will do a free workshop on creating story squares made with paper collage on Saturday, November 12 from 1-4 pm.
