Since the start of the new millennium, the Berlin based Deep Strings duo has been honing their own unique sound for cellos and voice offering “…an outstanding mix of rhythm, melody and text that encompasses lyric pop-chansons, virtuoso jazz improvisations and Latin folk music.”

Rooted in both classical and jazz traditions, vocalist/cellist Anne-Christin Schwarz and cellist Stephan Braun have been delighting audiences in Europe and North America with their original compositions and extended improvisations that defy established musical genres.  Whether playing a bossa nova rhythm while holding and plucking the cello like a guitar, slapping out a funky bass line with enhanced electronic effect, or simply bowing a beautiful melody, Stephan Braun always displays a virtuosity on his instrument. Sometimes providing a foil on second cello, Anne-Christin Schwarz’s seductive, smoky cabaret style voice takes the listener for a joyful ride through a variety of musical settings delivered in English, French and German.
