This groundbreaking exhibit features the work of 15 contemporary Pomo artists, as they reflect on the heartbreak brought on by the pandemic and the cultural traditions that sustained them.
Last year, the Grace Hudson Museum asked Pomo artist Meyo Marrufo to guest curate an exhibition on contemporary Pomo art. Reflecting on the past few years, Meyo knew that many Pomo artists had responded to the COVID pandemic with their creativity. Even in a time of darkness, they were making beautiful and hopeful paintings, baskets, and regalia. “Gathering Time” features their stories and brings forth the power of art to connect individuals and promote healing.
“Gathering Time” is on exhibit through Jan. 15, 2023. Several artists’ panels and hands-on workshops will happen throughout the fall.
