40th Anniversary of the Beginning of the Mendocino Art Center's Textile Apprenticeship Program

40th Anniversary of the Beginning of the Mendocino Art Center's Textile Apprenticeship Program

at Pacific Textile Arts

In the fall of 1976, the Mendocino Art Center launched the Textile Apprenticeship Program, an intensive immersion into the art, the craft, and the business of textiles.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Program’s beginning, the Gallery at Pacific Textile Arts will exhibit the work of 20 former apprentices, opening on First Friday, November 4 (5-8:00) and running until November 28.

The show will include handwoven shawls, scarves, tapestries, wall pieces, garments, quilts, ikat and shibori dyed fabrics, rugs and more, showing the breadth of skill and level of artistry the students achieved during and after their apprenticeships.

A related exhibit will also be shown at the Mendocino Art Center, Nov. 12 – 22.
