About Transition Mendo Coast: Transition Towns started in the UK about 16 years ago and sprang up from Permaculture ideas. The stimulus to start them was (and is) the awareness of many environmental and social problems and a desire to work together with neighbors to greatly reduce the environmental footprint of their community and have fun in the process. Transition Mendo Coast is a fairly new group and we hope to collaborate with the many organizations and individuals already doing fabulous, essential work to make the Mendo Coast greener, more just, inclusive, and fun.
