Mariko, a lifelong painter, received her BFA at Musashino Art University in Tokyo in 1973.  She moved to Mendocino in 1982 to pursue her painting. She has been in numerous solo and group shows, receiving many prizes. Her paintings have been represented in galleries since 1989.

Mariko says, “ The best part of being a painter is that I can express my feelings through painting, and have people enjoy it.  Being in nature makes us relaxed, happy, and soothed. It benefits our soul and health. I feel we live a wonderful life”
