Sara Post,

Sara Post, "Airborne"

Presented by Mendocino Art Center at Mendocino Art Center

Life is complex—rife with underlying forces. A visual narrative must be read with a different kind of attention—one that sees into the nature of things. Because I believe both these things to be true, I tell what I know with materials rather than with words. We interact with mysteries far larger than ourselves. This work offers a small reminder of that and extends an invitation to each viewer to create a narrative from a personal perspective, imbuing the grand scale of life with individual meaning.

– Sara Post

Sara Post is an American mixed media painter. Her textural abstractions are constructed with drawing, prints, papers and paint—layered visual narratives concerned with changing natural environments. Post has worked in a variety of media since 1981, including ceramic sculpture, wall installations and textile design as well as painting and drawing, with work widely represented in public and private collections. She has a master’s degree in ceramics and art education from Northern Arizona University. Her work is featured in Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts and Conversations, by Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin. She is represented by Sparrow Gallery in Sacramento, California, and Sager-Reeves in Columbia, Missouri. Sara Post lives in Davis, California, with her husband, artist Thomas Post. She maintains a working and teaching studio, Art 26, in downtown Davis.
