Artistic Partnership is Continued

“Companionship” is the title of this month’s Featured Artists’ show of collaborative work by Shanti Benoit and Sev Ikes at the Artists’ Co-op of Mendocino gallery from February 2 through February 28.

Shanti and Sev began their art journey 3 years ago when Shanti invited Sev to make art one day a week at her house.  Through a magical, short evolution, they ventured into collaborating, creating patterns on card stock then cutting up the results for collages.  This subsequently resulted in 65 collaborative pieces which were displayed in their 2020 featured show Tuesdays with Sev and Shanti at the Artists’ Co-op.
Sev and Shanti are both painters, so this year they explored combining painting with collage. Anticipating a February show, it was a no brainer to make it about connection and, well, love. There was much joy and laughter  as they came up with new ideas, so they hope that the work garners levity in others during these difficult times.
