SnapSessions! podcast presents an interview with drummer, percussion teacher, activist, and long-time Mendonesian Claudia Paige, and a “Tribute to The Twilight Zone”, the extraordinary boundary breaking science fiction TV show.
Claudia talks about her upbringing in Mendocino in the 1960s and 70s, her childhood obsession with drumming, her experiences touring and recording with the punk band Jain, her time as a percussionist with the San Francisco Mime Troupe in the 90s, her association with musicians Jerry Garcia, Tito Puente, and Gene Parsons, her UN peacekeeper tour of post-war Bosnia and Croatia, her work organizing music workshops in Oakland, and her founding of the Octopus School of Drums in Eugene, Oregon. Claudia also illuminates a few of her choice recordings over the years.
“Tribute to the Twilight Zone” reviews one of the most influential TV shows of the first Golden Age of Television, which featured the writing of Rod Serling, Charles Beaumont, and Richard Matheson and chilling and provocative music from Bernhard Herrmann and Marius Constant. A classic Sci Fi series.
