In her own words:

“I’ve been sculpting since I was a teenager. I started out playing in ceramic clay, creating miniature animal figures. As I grew in my abilities, my figures grew in size and expanded to the human form. When I was finally able to attend college, I became interested in metal-smithing and while creating wearable art, I still utilized my sculptural abilities. When I started teaching, I became interested in paper and its ability to hold a shape other than flat.

I discovered that paper could be cast in or over a mold and once dried would retain that shape. Since the process of creating such a mold for my paper castings requires that I first sculpt a figure in modeling clay, I am continuing to sculpt. This is true whether I’m creating an image to hang on the wall or to be free-standing, such as my cat figures.

Sculpting has been the thread that has tied all my exploration of various materials together throughout my like as an artist.

My show this December will be an expansion of what people have seen to date. I will be showcasing one of my largest wall pieces, other images belonging to series I’ve produced, as well as present some new free-standing figures as ornaments for the holiday season.
