It’s that time of year. Pumpkins are popping up everywhere, homes and businesses are being decorated, parents and children are thinking about costumes, and everyone is ready for candy.

Gualala Arts brings back its Drive-Thru Trick or Treat, Wednesday, October 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Adding to the fun will be cash prizes for three different competitions: Pumpkin Decorating, Halloween Decorating and Best Costume.

When visiting Gualala Arts take a look at the pumpkins on display as part of this year’s Pumpkin Decorating Competition. Whether they’ve been carved, painted, or covered in glitter (or see if someone decided instead to decorate an acorn squash) all of the entries will be on display. Come see who won this year’s contest.

Halloween is not just about pumpkins. The fun continues with the Halloween Decorating Contest. Each participant was assigned a section of the Gualala Arts parking lot to decorate with Halloween decorations that they have brought with them from home.  When you visit the Arts Center on Wednesday, check out the Halloween Decorated areas in the Gualala Arts parking lot to see who did the display that was the scariest or the most fun.

There will also be a Costume Contest, and if you missed the deadline for the pumpkin decorating context, or the Halloween Decorating competition, you can still decorate yourself and come to Gualala Arts on Wednesday. The registration is form is available at GualalaArts.org. Make sure you bring the costume contest registration form with you on Wednesday!

Participants will have their picture taken during the “Drive Thru Trick or Treat” and compete for a $50 cash prize to be awarded in each category: Family Costume, Individual Costume or Pet Costume. Your entire family can dress up as a bowl of fruit in our Family Category or dress up your dog as a sheep in our Pet Costume category. Whether you’re been feeling competitive or simply wish to drive-through, Wednesday, October 27 will be a great way to get an early start on Halloween.  Please note: Single family in the vehicles please, face masks and social distancing required.
