Ekphrasis is a Greek word meaning “Art Inspiring Other Art.”  Ekphrasis X continues the tradition of an annual collaboration between the Artists’ Co-op of Mendocino and the Writers of the Mendocino Coast. The participating 21 artist-writer pairs (42 creative individuals!) were matched randomly and anonymously with identities withheld until the exhibitions were installed. For half of them, visual artists responded to writings; for the other half, writers responded to visual art.

Mark your calendars to view this year’s Ekphrasis in several ways:

1. The online Exhibition featuring all participants, was installed Oct. 1st and will be accessible indefinitely on the Co-op website. Go to www.artcoopmendocino.com and click on the “Exhibitions” dropdown menu.

2.  The Co-op’s bricks-and-mortar exhibition is up Oct 6 through Nov 1, with art/writing pairs installed throughout the gallery.

Open daily 11-4 with extended hours to 7pm on Second Saturday Oct 9. Location is Kasten x Albion Sts in Mendocino.
