April 5th ACMC Arts Community Roundtable Zoom Meeting

April 5th ACMC Arts Community Roundtable Zoom Meeting

Presented by ACMC at Online/Virtual Space

Monday April 5th, Noon – 1:30

April is Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month – Californians for the Arts is hosting events to celebrate and recognize the significance of the economic and social impact of the Arts. More information here.

This month, in recognition of Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month, we invite you to share some of your ambitious, long-term dreams for arts and culture in Mendocino County. Drive-in movies on the coast, the Palace Hotel in Ukiah covered with murals and eventually storefront galleries at street level and live/work studios (with a boutique hotel to fund it all) above, 50 works of pubic art in the next 5 years in Ukiah, the Low Gap Park amphitheater restored, a community art center in Fort Bragg, a large scale arts facility in Ukiah… these are just a few of the real ideas you have shared with us over the past year. In honor of spring and our collective growing optimism that we may be turning the corner with Covid, let’s dream and think big this month.

Some things to keep in mind…

We have the capacity to include up to 100 participants. The meetings to-date have all had about 20 attendees. Please feel free to forward this invitation as there is plenty of capacity! We are especially grateful to those of you who have been consistent attendees. You strengthen this community!

These are our objectives:
• We will deepen our connections to each other and forge new ones;
• We will share all ideas related to arts recovery, resilience, survival, and reinvention with each other in the hopes that some of these ideas will gather momentum and support;

• We will work together to dismantle systemic racism in Mendocino County recognizing that this work is past due;

• We will keep the agenda open to new ideas and needs of the community as they arise.

The Arts Council of Mendocino County would like to carry forward a practice of recognizing the original caretakers of these Sacred Lands within and throughout Mendocino County. We acknowledge their stewardship of these lands and uplift their legacies as they continue to build and sustain their culture and practices today and for seven generations. We acknowledge and offer gratitude to these indigenous ancestors, and present-day relations of the Cahto, Pomo, Yuki, Maidu, Miwok, Nomlaki, Wailaki, and Pit River peoples.
