On Thursday, November 17, at 7:30pm The Third Thursday Poetry & Jazz Reading Series at 215 Main in Point Arena will feature Fort Bragg poet Oasis Hasten.

The reading will begin with live improv jazz and an open mic with jazz improv; the reading will conclude with more live improv jazz. A delight to all who know him, “Oasis” Darryl Hasten brings his background as a dancer, and actor into his sporadic plunges into the morass of poetry possibilities. He savors the freedom to express the range of his own expressions in spontaneous soundings; vigorous vocalizations of auditory art. Oasis has often been accoompanied by various musicians in readings, storytelling, and theatre – and always looks forward to “Jazzing it up”.

In 2015 Oasis hosted an open mike and featured poet series at The Bookstore and Vinyl Cafe in Fort Bragg. The Fort Bragg Library will now be hosting a poetry Open Mike on 1st Thursdays of the month. He just completed two back to back six-week runs at the Mendocino Theater Company, appearing first in “Bob” and second in “The Dining Room”. He is looking forward to getting back to his poetry and dance.

Doors open at 7 pm & reading at 7:30 pm, with live improv jazz.
