UCCA Presents Pianist Lindsay Garritson Virtual Recital

UCCA Presents Pianist Lindsay Garritson Virtual Recital

Presented by Ukiah Community Concert Association at Online/Virtual Space

Garritson will make her Ukiah debut on Sunday, September 20 at 2 pm through the wonders of Zoom. All subscribers to the UCCA 2020/21 season will be sent a computer link via email, which gives them access to the event.

Board Member and music professor at Mendocino College Jim Dowcett heard Lindsay play heard Lindsay play at a very early age and recognized an interpretive sophistication and technical mastery unusual for so young a performer. An award-winning performer, Garritson has received top prizes at the Montreal International Piano Competition, USASU Bösendorfer International Piano Competition, Yale Woolsey Concerto Competition and more. Lindsay holds degrees from Principia College (B.A. in Music) Yale School of Music (M. M. and Artist Diploma) and Miami University (D.M.A).

Lindsay will create a high-quality 30-minute live video specifically for the Mendocino County audience. The all-Chopin program will be live-hosted by several of the UCCA Board members with a kick-off welcome and hopefully a live discussion with the artist after the last recital piece. “This is a brand new thing for us,” said Joel Cohen, professional cellist and longtime member of the UCCA Board. “We would much rather be seeing our audience in person, but the lingering Covid-19 public health concerns prohibit live concerts so this is the next best thing.”

Recital viewers need only a computer (desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone, Android, or tablet), a reliably strong internet connection, and an email address to which UCCA can send the Zoom link. After the September 20 performance, the entire program will be loaded onto UCCA’s very own YouTube channel and available to subscribers and single-event ticket buyers for 30 days.

Using the Zoom platform is very easy, however recognizing that some of our audience may not be very familiar with it, UCCA is scheduling a “Fam Tour” – which will also serve as a tickler preview of the entire season’s artists, as well as a trial run for anyone who wants to make sure all the kinks are worked out before “curtain time” on performance day. Two co-hosts will be available to answer any questions and walk users through the Zoom process. The “Fam Tour” will be Sunday, September 13 at 2 pm and computer links will be sent to all UCCA season subscribers and anyone who has purchased a single ticket-event for any of the concerts scheduled throughout the season.

Tickets for the recitals re available online at www.ukiahconcerts.org. The Season Membership is $100 which includes all four concerts and single tickets are $30. Free access will be available to Mendocino College students who request in advance as part of our continuing educational outreach program.
