Sondra Sula is showing all new work at the Artists Collective in Elk beginning September 1, 2020 with a show entitled Art in the Time of COVID.
Her “Little Souls” are small, framed found-object assemblages created in an intuitive manner.
“When I make a piece, I believe the completed art will beckon someone’s soul, and that person will eventually find it. During the creative process I just ‘know’ when an object or its placement is right or wrong. I rely heavily on this intuitive sense, this spiritual connection to The Flow.”
“I thought I would be wildly creative during shelter-in-place, but both my in-person and remote jobs actually increased in hours, and I found I had even less time to devote to artistic pursuits.”
“When I did finally begin to create art for this show, it was as if a dam had broken and released a slew of pent up ideas.”
Sula has a BFA in Painting and Photography and has been represented by galleries in Chicago, Santa Fe and here on the northern California coast. She is also the author of Meditations on Mendocino and other books that can be found at the Fort Bragg library or online.
The Artists Collective Elk Gallery is open daily from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. 707-877-1128.
