Cartwheels in the Sky - Poets, Poems, & Discovery

Presented by KGUA Public Media at Online/Virtual Space

Author of five books of poetry, a humor book, two non-fiction health books and hundreds of magazine articles, Blake More is a widely published author who is currently working on her latest book.

She has a new half hour show premiering Saturday August 8, 2020 on KGUA 88.3FM in Gualala called Cartwheels in the Sky – Poets, Poems, & Discovery which can be heard anywhere with the new KGUA AirPocket available at KGUA.org.) She also hosts an hour long public affairs program called Be More Now on KZYX&Z FM Mendocino.

Resident of California’s Mendocino Coast since the late 90s, she is an artist with many creative voices and obsessions. Her art is often inspired by nature, geometry and the female form, and she regularly incorporates mixed-media collage and painting into her digital expressions. Blurring the boundaries between disciplines, Blake’s work embraces visual art, poetry, video, performance, costume design, teaching, functional mixed media art/life pieces and hand-painted art cars, including Star Yantra, a Mercedes SL500 painted with a metallic palette (staryantra.life).

A UCLA graduate and lifetime member of Phi Beta Kappa, she has avoided a “real job” since 1989, and makes her living as a graphic designer, artist in the classrooms, writer, mural painter, performer, costume designer and poet. She also stands on her head, dances, digs in the dirt, eats homegrown food, grows her own medicine, plays with children and swims with dolphins whenever possible. To explore more of Blake’s creative world and purchase copies of her past books, including godmeat (a collection of poetry, prose, color artwork complete plus a DVD compilation of poem movies which are available at godmeat.com), and her chapbook Up In the Me World is available on her website at bmoreyou.net.
