The Funky Dozen blends fun and funk to keep people on the dance floor all night long. Led by Larry Thompson, the band focuses primarily on favorites from the 1970s, but also pulls the best from the 80s and 90s, to provide high-energy music people want to move to.

As the name suggests, the band features twelve talented musicians, but not always the same twelve. Part of the band’s strength is their fluid mixture of core members and new musicians who bring great infusions of style and experience, helping the band stay true to its roots while it continues to grow and evolve. Twelve members blend to create a powerful sound, melding classic guitar and percussion with a brass section to blow the roof off, topped off with male and female vocalists who use their voices as instruments in their own right.

The Valentine’s Dance Party featuring the Funky Dozen will be held at Bartlett Hall, 495 Leslie Street in Ukiah. Doors will open at 6:30. Dance 7:00 – 10:00 p.m., on Saturday February 8. A wide array of gourmet appetizers served throughout the evening are included in admission. A raffle, beer and wine will be available.

Tickets available at Ukiah Senior Center Administration 499 Leslie Street, Mendocino Book Company located at 102 South School Street, and at www.ukiahseniorcenter.org General Public $25 in advance, $30 pay at the door. Members advance ticket purchase – $20, $25 at the door.

Please note: Members purchasing advance tickets must show membership card at USC administration office to receive the discounted price before the day of the event. Members will be allowed to purchase a “guest” ticket at the member price.
