In a first-time event, Mendocino Coast FurnitureMakers, in collaboration with local fibers artists, present WOOD AND FIBER, an exhibition of recent works.

During the time of holidays and home, local artisans will offer work of lasting value to enhance living spaces.

The instigator of the joint effort, Christina Marshall, sees a connection between the media and says “…textiles bring color and softness to wood while the firm warmth of wood highlights textiles…cellulose fiber, such as bamboo, tree bark, banana, and hemp, has been used through the ages.”

Four fiber artists will display four disciplines in their field: Ren Riley, fabric construction; Adriane Nicolaisen, contemporary felting; Mari Yamaguchi, weaving and handmade yarn; and Christina Marshall, weaving.

They will be joining area crafters in wood, both long-established and emerging, who will display, among other items, tables, chairs, sculptures, carvings, boxes and turned objects. Participating woodworkers: Joe Amaral, Lee Baker, Hans Bruhner, Michael Carroll, Les Cizek, Krystine Graziano, Bruce Hart, Erin Irber, Scott Jares, Kerry Marshall, Paul Reiber, Odis Schmidt, Joshua Sterns, Judy Tarbell, and David Welter.
