Jaye Alison Moscariello’s compelling film “From the Ashes” shows how the community responded to the October 2017 Redwood Complex Fire helping their neighbors and creating art to begin the healing process for so many who lost people & homes.
If you have already seen it, this 33 minute film has had improvements to the sound track. It has won several awards and been shown in Poland, Italy, Chico, CA, and ……. Music is by Bill Taylor and Joe Nemeth with songs by Kim Monroe and Kathy Buckley.
“From the Ashes” will show Thursday February 13th at 5:30 in Willits Public Library (and Jaye will be presenting a painting at the Mendocino County Museum which they are acquiring next door at 5 PM). It will be followed by a 15 minute slide show depicting all the art from 69 artists that was shown in October 2018 at 4 venues in inland Mendocino County.
The film will show again on Sunday February 23rd, gather for snacks at 11:30 AM at the Ukiah United Methodist Church (N. Pine St. at Smith St.). Film will begin around noon. Also at this second showing Jaye will have an art sale to raise funds to complete Part 2: The Future is Now, which chronicles what people are doing to be fire ready and to reduce the contributors to disastrous wildfires such as climate chaos and excessive logging which creates brushy forests more prone to burn hotter and spread fire rapidly both vertically and horizontally. It will cover both protection and prevention strategies, and feature native practices that have been largely abandoned but which are beginning to come back. If you like any piece of art, please make a reasonable offer and make it yours and you will be helping get the new information out via the next film!
Hope to see you the 13th or 23rd! The film showing is free; donations gladly accepted to support the next film, Part 2: The Future is Now.
