Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild 2019 Quilt Challenge

Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild 2019 Quilt Challenge

Presented by Gualala Arts at Gualala Arts Center

The 2019 Challenge is “One Red Square.” Although no specific style nor size is required, each entry must include a piece of at the minimum size a clearly visible finished 1-inch square of one of seven chosen deliciously primary red fabrics, including two silk fabrics, a dupioni and a charmeuse!  Inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere or anything. Members are challenged to consider applying the few simple Challenge rules and to stitch and/or quilt their own interpretation in fabric in one, two or three dimensions.
Quilts to be exhibited include traditional, modern & art quilts, clothing, and a variety of styles & techniques.

The show is not juried nor judged, so it encourages creativity at all levels. It is always a great thrill to see someone new to quilting/art quilts show their work alongside long-time quilters.

One Red Square Rules:
1) Only 1, Only Red, Only Square!
2) Miinimum finished size of the One Red Square — 1”
3) Maximum size of the One Red Square — none!
4) Definition of square: four equal sides and four 90 degree angles; i.e. four right angles.
5) Anyone looking at the quilt will easily see the One Red Square.
6) There are 7 designated red fabrics from which to choose. At least one of these fabrics is required to meet this challenge.
7) The color of the chosen red square of fabric may not be altered in any way.  Use the right side of the fabric.
8) Nothing shall impede the oneness, redness or squareness of the One Red Square!
