Back by popular demand for its sixth year running at Willits Community Theatre, “Speakeasy VI – An Evening of Original Monologues” will be presented in two shows on Saturday, September 21 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 22 at 2pm.
The diverse and original monologues are performed on stage by local people, who have written and prepared their own work for presentation. Coordinator Emmy Good says of the Speakeasy show, “The monologues are often funny, touching, honest, playful, engaging and very moving. A monologue can be on any topic, true or fantasy. Sometimes we are moved to tears of laughter and other times tears of sadness. There may even be some experimental improv.”
Participants in this year’s Speakeasy lineup include: Pete Winslow, Marge Handley, Nancy Nelson, Bill Herr, Emmy Good, Earlene Gleisner, Bill Barksdale, Linda Posner, Melinda Clarke, Ursula Schilchting, Wolfgang Ronnefelt, Jane Camp, Wei Wei, and Bobby Brumback. Good says it’s rumored that even Sheriff Tom Allman may participate in one of the two shows. Each monologue generally runs about five minutes.
