Northcoast Artists Gallery is pleased to present the work of member artist Mariko Irie. She will be showing all new works in her solo show “Mariko Irie 2016.”

This year she focused on her roots as in painting her Japonica in watercolor. “I hope you will enjoy the exquisite, colorful, joyful light and Japanese flavor in my paintings.” For over twenty-seven years, painting in watercolor has fascinated her. Mariko’s paintings range from the richly traditional to exquisite and contemporary.

Mariko Irie, a lifelong painter, was born and raised in Tokyo, and received her BFA at Musashino Art University in 1973. Many galleries have represented her work since 1989. She has been in numerous solo and group shows, receiving prizes including the top award for “Outstanding Visual Artists” at the Museum of the Living Artist in San Diego in 2011, as well as having paintings selected for posters for Winesong 1995, the Mendocino Music Festival 2004, “The Voices From Earth” concert 2005, “Art in the Garden” 2008, “Mendocino Coast Garden Tour” 2013, and a cover of the magazine “Mendocino Arts” winter issue 2008. Her artwork is well known locally and widely collected privately and publicly throughout the United States, Japan, England, Germany and Canada, including the public collection of The Amity Art Foundation in Woodbridge, CT., Newport Communications in California and the Miasa Governor in Japan.
