Mendocino Streetlights: Perspectives by Karen Reynolds

Mendocino Streetlights: Perspectives by Karen Reynolds

Presented by Artists' Co-op of Mendocino at Artists’ Co-op Of Mendocino

Perspectives on Mendocino Streetlights

New art presenting Perspectives on Mendocino Streetlights by Karen Reynolds is the focus for the July Featured Artist show at the Artists’ Co-op of Mendocino. Last year, after watching the installation of Streetlight #13 (corner Howard and Ukiah Sts), Karen located all 36 (plus a spare at the high school without a skirt) and decided to create an art show around the theme. Among other characteristics, the town’s new set of streetlights are more “dark sky friendly.” The show includes photographic portraits, drawings, kinetic art, and mixed media. Her real and imaginative considerations explore what goes on at night as well as in the daytime in the “lives” of these classically designed luminaires. Besides revealing a sense of humor, the show reflects Karen’s ongoing interest in art and science, and opportunities for viewers to interact with the art. See the show July 3 through August 5 at the Artists’ Co-op of Mendocino gallery, corner of Kasten and Albion in Mendocino. The Second Saturday reception is July 13 with Karen’s Artist Talk at 5:30 PM.  The gallery is open daily 10:30 – 5:00. For more information: (707) 937-2217 and www.artcoopmendocino.com
