“Tattooed and Tenacious” features historical photographs and tattoo-related objects, personal histories, memorabilia, and contemporary California Native art with tattoo themes.
From the working-class Tattooed Ladies who performed in circus sideshows to the upper-class inked women who helped popularize the tattoo craze, “Tattooed and Tenacious” explores the largely unknown story of women in the tattoo arts. This show from Exhibit Envoy is supplemented with material from the Grace Hudson Museum and other collections, plus contemporary California Native art with tattoo themes.
