Solo exhibition of Richard Weiss’ latest acrylic-on-wood Optical Illusion Kinetic and 3 Dimensional paintings.
Some will remember the successful 2017 exhibition The Art Of Richard Weiss at the Mendocino Art Center where he introduced his 3-D reverse perspective painting Tintin & The Case of The Purple Orb. It won in 2018 at the Art In The Redwoods both Best of Show and Most Popular (a first in the 57 year history of the juried show, the largest of its kind in NorCal).
His latest work continues expressing humor toward the idiosyncrasies of our society. It comments on social and cultural issues by staging icons, symbols, and elements of popular culture into unexpected surroundings and situations. It is as if the characters had stepped into another reality. The 2019 exhibition will present his new 3-D series. As well as his latest interactive kinetic paintings where viewers become creators, designing their own and unique experience of transforming an image into another. The overall experience in Richard Weiss’ exhibitions remains one of surprise and playfulness. If you miss this one, two other and different solos exhibitions along the coast will follow this one: In May at Tim Carmody gallery in Fort Bragg, and in June at the Gualala Art Center. Expect a whimsical experience, full of joy and wonder.
