In October Partners is showing the sculpture of eco-artist Virginia Stearns in an exploration of a few of the surprising multi-faceted wonders of the natural world.
Working with photographic images, hydrocal, acrylic paint and other mixed media, Stearns explores symbiotic relationships among living animals including hermit crabs and their anemones and oxpecker birds and their salon services to African wildlife.
In a slightly different vein, Stearns has created a large participatory piece exploring the variety of sex and gender among humans through the lens of diverse animal sexual reproductive strategies. Participants meet various amazing animals and humans through images on cards as they are invited to place them in a spectrum.
There is a First Friday reception for the artist October 5th, 5-8pm.
American Craft Week is coming to the Mendocino Coast. On Saturday October 6th at 1 pm Rachel Binah, known for her large paper constructions, is giving a demonstration of her techniques making jewelry with unconventional materials.
