Judy Castleton, a Sacramento native who now lives in Ft. Bragg, began quilting in 1984, starting with traditional quilts.

In 1998, she attended a retreat known as “Art Quilt Tahoe,” introducing her to this unique genre of fiber art, described as “an original exploration of a concept or idea rather than the handing down of a pattern. It experiments with textile manipulation, color, texture and/or a diversity of mixed media. An Art Quilt often pushes quilt world boundaries.”
