North Coast Artists Guild Community Forum for upcoming exhibit

North Coast Artists Guild Community Forum for upcoming exhibit

Presented by Gualala Arts at Gualala Arts Center

A community forum will be held September 18, 2018, from 1 to 4 pm,to discuss a community project planned in conjunction with this exhibit in the upstairs classroom at Gualala Arts Center.  There is a participation fee of $15. Register with Elizabeth Solomon at lizartseattle@gmail.com.

The forum will introduce “My Home,” the Community Project, which will be featured in the Gualala Arts Elaine Jacob Foyer during the Book Arts show. Discussion will be around what HOME means, whether it be a fixed location, a feeling, or an emotion. Participants are invited to bring a small object, photograph, or memento that represents home to him or her.

Please share this information, as the more people who participate, the more this installation will represent HOME here on the coast in all of its diversity. If you are unable to attend the forum, you are still invited to participate in the installation.

In addition to the community project’s introduction, information will be provided on what is planned in the coming months regarding forums and workshops leading up to the Book Arts show. These workshops and forums will give everyone an opportunity to successfully participate in this all-encompassing art form.

The forum will be facilitated by Elizabeth Solomon, curator of the February exhibit.

About curator and forum leader Elizabeth Solomon

Elizabeth Beronich Solomon comes from a technical theatre background, working in major regional theaters throughout the country for 25 years. She brings those technical skills to her work in making unusual one-of-a-kind sculptural books.

Elizabeth takes inspiration from her insatiable interest in science, science fiction, and alternate histories/worlds/realities. Most of her books are visually based, preferring that the observer bring his/her own story/perception to the work, thereby creating a new interpretation, based upon the relationship created by the individual’s interaction with the artist via the work. She hopes these books draw the observer into the various worlds she has created.
