The Women Artists Beyond Reason exhibit at Caspar Curiosities, June 8 thru July 29, brings together visuals in all media by women of many visions. This comes as no surprise when the call for entry sought work that “speaks to our lives…pushes boundaries…and celebrates resilience, our own and the planet’s…from the personal to political.”

Accompanying the exhibit is an event: An Afternoon’s Delight, Sunday, June 17, 4-7 p.m. at the Caspar Community Center, across the street from Caspar Curiosities, which will open at noon. Ruth Weiss and Alice Walker will read in this well-rounded afternoon of music, dance and poetry. A raffle at the event will benefit the Cancer Resource Center of Mendocino County. 

Join us for a reception for the artists on June 8, from 5-8 p.m., 15160 Caspar Road, Caspar. Caspar Curiosities is open Thursday-Saturday, 10 – 5, Sunday noon-4.  

On display are the dynamic burnt black walnut & gold paint sculptures of Masako Ariata, paintings by Sondra Sula & Caryl Henry-Alexander, fabric sculpture by Adriane Nicholaisen, and twenty more exciting artists, including the continuation of Sarita Johnson’s illustrated novel. We are also honoring Debra M. Scott, (1957 – 2017), weaver, beader, gardener and a holder & sharer of knowledge extraordinaire whose work & personal touch is sorely missed in many realms of the Mendocino community.
