Suzi Marquess Long featured artist in May

Suzi Marquess Long featured artist in May

Presented by Artists' Co-op of Mendocino at Artists’ Co-op Of Mendocino

… including recovering from a severely broken ankle the morning after Thanksgiving, moving her 12-year residence out of her Mendocino watertower home and gallery, and the inability to carry her gear outside for plein air painting. She has spent the first part of the new year contemplating, meditating, mulling and yes, ruminating.

2017 was quite an interesting year for this adopted artist who met her biological half-sister, same mother, in April, and then was shocked to learn of her biological half-brother, same father, in October via email. He came to visit in January! Much to ruminate!

Inspiration comes from many places, and Suzi’s inspiration for her first paintings of 2018 resulted from a chance meeting with a woman who shelters many animals, including goats, sheep, a bull, cow, calf, chickens and a pig. These animals struck a chord and while still settling into her new dwelling, she began painting again.

Suzi was a very successful Mural painter in Marin County and the Bay Area for several years. Moving to fine art, the medium of pastels came easily for this talented artist who also continues to teach watercolor/pen sketching classes as she has done for twelve years.
