For persons interested in performing an original monologue at Willits Community Theatre later this summer, two free public workshops are scheduled to assist performers in the writing and staging process. Participants write their own personal monologues and work in a collaborative process in preparation for their performances on stage.

The first workshop will be held on Saturday, April 15 from 1-2:30pm at the Willits Library, and the second workshop will be on Saturday, May 20 from 1-2:30pm at the Willits Community Theatre.
According to event organizer Annie Samson, the workshops are voluntary, informative and informal. They are open to anyone interested in finding out more about writing monologues. Samson says, “This is an ideal opportunity to explore the monologue format, try out ideas, and discuss with others what makes a good monologue good.” She says that the monologues must be original, no longer than five minutes and delivered without a script.
The Speakeasy Original Monologue shows have been very popular sell-outs the last three years and have proven to be one of WCT’s most successful and popular events. The shows this year will be held at the WCT playhouse on Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23.
