This class meets January 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31, 2017 (Tuesdays, 6:00pm-9:00pm)

CLASS DESCRIPTION
• Never painted before, but always wanted to?
• Painted some but want to perfect your techniques?
• Want to change mediums and try watercolor?

Take the next step in your creativity.

In our five class meetings we will review and practice basic skills which will include mastering clean smooth washes, refining edge lines, blending colors in various ways, trying wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry. You will also learn various tool techniques so as to enhance your finished product.

These tools will include the use of various brushes and brush techniques, burnishing, transferring and refining an image that you want to paint. We will use a limited but very workable color palette so you can explore without a large investment in paint.

Using the above skills and techniques, you will be pleased with the small paintings you create in this class.

This class is geared towards both absolute beginners as well as students who have taken the any of the Bare Bones series.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
NANCY MARCHANT has spent the past 35 years practicing one of her passions, teaching hundreds of students complex subjects in the healing arts. In 2002 she discovered another passion, painting in watercolor, and took her first of many classes at the Mendocino Art Center. Over the years, she has studied with and assisted watercolorists, Nancy Collins, Patricia Osborne and Jeannie Vodden, each of whom expresses her art in her own unique style. During these years of assisting and talking to the students, Nancy often heard the comment that they wished they were more grounded in the basics of painting in watercolor. Those comments were the genesis of creating this Bare Bones Basic Watercolor class.
