Harriet Oden

A Workshop at Gualala Arts

$500 for the year, or $50 per month.

Monthly meetings of five hours explore relationship, in the spirit of inquiry, developed by the late physicist-philosopher David Bohm. He proposes an intelligent and compassionate approach to understanding and changing ourselves and changing our society.

We will generate a seriously rigorous spirit of inquiry to sustain us in the challenges of learning how to listen in meditative awareness as we speak. Thought itself unfolds as an artful medium when exploring Bohm’s world-view of “Undivided Wholeness in Flowing Movement” where “meaning is being” and “thought is a system.” He articulates a redefinition of thought that includes body, emotion, intellect, reflex, and artifact mutually informing an unbroken field. He considers division of the undivided and fragmentation of wholeness as a hidden source of the social, political, and environmental crises facing our world.

The workshop meets the 4th Friday of each month, beginning Friday, January 24, 2020 from 10 am – 4 pm at Gualala Arts Center. $500 for the year, or $50 per month. Sign up by January 17, 2020. 707-884-1138. Optional items are bag lunches for the noon hour and journals for home work.

Harriet Oden, Ph.D., received her doctorate in Philosophy and Religion, Concentration in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness, from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2008. She did her doctoral research on the topic of Bohmian Dialogue, inspired by her personal contact with the physicist David Bohm and Krishnamurti during several years working at the Krishnamurti Foundation of America in Ojai. Trained in psychotherapy under Stuart Sovatsky, Harriet’s practice invites people to discover meaning through acceptance and attention in mind and body. She has led workshops at Esalen Institute, practiced privately in Berkeley, and currently lives in The Sea Ranch.
