Opportunities for artists to display at Art Center Ukiah:

July- America the Beautiful
From “sea to shining sea” our country is a land filled with astonishing beauty. What is it that stops you in your tracks? Do you see beauty in natural vistas, manmade scenes, or in the faces of our citizens? Or do you see beauty from a political, cultural or historical perspective? We welcome submissions in all media, realistic or abstract, large or small.

Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $25 fee for the first entry, $10 for each subsequent entry, with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. Completed entry forms and all ready-to-hang work (NO sawtooth hangers) must be delivered for jurying to the Corner Gallery (201 S State St in Ukiah) no later than noon on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Artists are encouraged to email photos of their submissions to acuentries@yahoo.com by the middle of June for possible inclusion in the publicity for the show. A refund will be given to the artist for any work not accepted in the show. The First Friday show opening is July 5 from 5-8pm.

All unsold work must be picked up from the gallery at the end of the show on Tuesday, July 30.

August- Impressions: The Art of Printmaking
The hand printmaking process attracts artists through the richness and variety offered by a number of techniques- including engraving, lithograph, woodcut, and etching. All prints are original works of art that include one-of-a-kind images (monotypes) or many prints (editions from the same block or plate) with each impression individually inked and transferred to paper.

Printmaking has been used historically for educational, religious, political and decorative purposes. Modern printmaking is an open-ended artistic exploration of all of the above techniques and uses, and the sky is the limit. With all those possibilities, what kind of magic can you create on paper?

Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $10 fee for the first entry, $5 for each subsequent entry, with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. Completed entry forms and all ready-to-hang work (NO sawtooth hangers) must be delivered for jurying to the Corner Gallery (201 S State St in Ukiah) no later than noon on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Artists are encouraged to email photos of their submissions to acuentries@yahoo.com by the middle of July for possible inclusion in the publicity for the show. A refund will be given to the artist for any work not accepted in the show. The First Friday show opening is August 2 from 5-8pm.

All unsold work must be picked up from the gallery at the end of the show on Tuesday, September 3.

September- Well-Traveled (quilt show)
There is nothing like travel to stimulate the urge to do art. We are looking for wall quilts inspired by a trip to Africa, a river cruise, a vacation on a sunny beach, or even a dream… or simply a quilt created with luscious fabrics from a distant land. They can be art quilts or traditional, representational or abstract. Size limit is 48″ wide, and all quilts must have a split hanging sleeve sewn onto the back and include a labeled hanging rod cut to fit the horizontal dimension of the piece.

This show will run as one of at least three venues of the “Quilter’s Circle” during the month of September, concurrently with the SAQA “Stitching California” show at the Grace Hudson Museum. Visitors to the museum will be encouraged to walk the circle from the museum to Ukiah Library to the Corner Gallery, to complete their quilt experience while visiting Ukiah.

Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $25 fee for the first entry, $10 for each subsequent entry, with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. Completed entry forms and all ready-to-hang work (with labeled hanging rods) must be delivered for jurying to the Corner Gallery (201 S State St in Ukiah) no later than noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Artists are encouraged to email photos of their submissions to acuentries@yahoo.com by the middle of August for possible inclusion in the publicity for the show. A refund will be given to the artist for any work not accepted in the show. The First Friday show opening is September 6 from 5-8pm.

All unsold work must be picked up from the gallery at the end of the show on Tuesday, October 1.

October- In Disguise
Our October celebrations frequently involve costumes and masks. This will be a wonderful opportunity to display your handmade creations and wear them too, since this show will end several days before Halloween. We are looking for the MOST…creative, beautiful, macabre, zany… in all media, wearable or not. Wall art related to the theme is welcome too.

Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $25 fee for the first entry, $10 for each subsequent entry, with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. Completed entry forms and all ready-to-hang work (NO sawtooth hangers) must be delivered for jurying to the Corner Gallery (201 S State St in Ukiah) no later than noon on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. All unsold work must be picked up from the gallery at the end of the show on Tuesday, October 29.

November- Design for Wine
Some of the most elegant art in our two-county area is found on wine labels and posters, though it is often overlooked as consumers head straight for the contents of the bottle. This will be an opportunity for winemakers, graphic artists and creative locals to showcase their art in a venue where the beauty of the graphics will be truly appreciated. Decorative wine bottles may also be entered. This fall show will run concurrently with the county-wide Wine, Beer and Mushroom Festival.

Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $25 fee for the first entry, $10 for each subsequent entry, or a donation of wine valued at at least $25, with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. Completed entry forms and all ready-to-hang work (NO sawtooth hangers) must be delivered for jurying to the Corner Gallery (201 S State St in Ukiah) no later than noon on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Multiple labels may be displayed together in a frame. Artists are encouraged to email photos of their submissions to acuntries@yahoo.com by the middle of October for possible inclusion in the publicity for the show. A refund will be given to the artist for any work not accepted in the show. The First Friday show opening is November 1 from 5-8pm.

All submissions must be picked up from the gallery at the end of the show on Tuesday, December 3.
